A plea deal has been reached for the third suspect in a Richmond murder case. Brandon Simpson, 26, pleaded guilty on Friday, October 11th to the amended count of second degree murder. He was originally charged with murder, burglary, and theft/stealing for the May 2012 strangling death of Michelle Rheuport.
The Ray County Prosecutor’s Office reports both the defense and prosecution have recommended Simpson spend the next 25 years in the Department of Corrections. Judge Larry Harmon is not obligated to accept this proposal, and will decide Simpson’s fate at a sentencing hearing November 19th at 1:00 p.m.
Two others originally charged with Rheuport’s death accepted plea deals last month. Lauren Gabbard, 26, and James Gant, 25, admitted to burglary and theft, which were downgraded from murder charges.
