A 3 week demolition project is getting underway in Sweet Springs Friday. The destruction of the MFA co-op lower elevator will cause Miller Street to remain closed until work is complete. The roadway will be inaccessible from Kenny’s MFA to Lexington Street.

Earth Works, Inc. has been contracted to complete the project. The company will provide lighted barricades at both the north and south ends of the construction zone. They will also erect netting along the roadway to prevent pedestrian traffic. Detours will be provided for all semi-truck traffic as vehicles weighing over 1200 pounds will be prohibited in the area.

The closure has been approved by the board of aldermen. The issue will be addressed again at the July 8 meeting.
