Stray dogs in unincorporated parts of Johnson County will now be allowed to be dropped off at the Warrensburg Animal Shelter.

The agreement between the city of Warrensburg and the Johnson Co. Commission allows those who live outside of Warrensburg city limits, but are Johnson Co. residents, to turn in stray dogs to the shelter and pay a $20 turn-in fee. The remainder of the cost will be paid by the county.

The agreement came about this week after detailed discussions on a fair approach.

The Warrensburg Animal Shelter is located at 37 Southwest 101 Road in Warrensburg.

The best way to prevent stray pet population growth is to have your pets spayed and neutered as soon as possible.
