The Saline County Commission has hired people to help train employees in the assessors office on equipment in their possession. Click to hear KMZU’s Mike Stone speak with Northern Commissioner Norvelle “Brownie” Brown:
They signed a contract for the assessor’s office to use the GIS System in 2006. Brown says they had someone who was capable with the equipment, but she retired due to health reasons. “When she left, the training basically stopped, which has slowed things down,” said Brown, “We’re trying to help get that office up to speed. Once the GIS is completed and all the training is done and the work that goes along with it is done, it really speeds up the process.” The GIS equipment is used to track property lines, which is currently done by hand.
