The Sedalia City Council held a special session on a possible smoking ban Monday night. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with City Administrator Gary Edwards:
Representatives discussed both sides of the issue. “One side being, ‘We need to prohibit smoking withing the City of Sedalia at all public places,’ the other side of the argument is, ‘That should not be allowed. It’s an impingement on personal freedom and it’s an impingement on a person’s right to do what they wish.’ Both good arguments. Both strong arguments,” said Edwards.
No decision was made at Monday’s meeting.
A second work session will be held May 13th. Council plans to vote on the issue at the first or second meeting in June.
