A regular meeting of the Sedalia City Council will take place this evening. There are a number of items on the tentative agenda for the meeting. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott talk with City Administrator Gary Edwards:
“A community center has been discussed for many years,” said Edwards. “If the council approves bringing it forward, then it will go on the ballot. The Park Board has already approved it going on the ballot recommending to the council that they also approve. It’s a half cent proposed sales tax to pay for the community center, we will see if the voters agree with it or not.”
Also on the agenda to be discussed is the approval of a bid for the city audit for 2013. The staff has recommended that the council approve the lowest bid. A third item of business has to do with computer and data security.
“That’s simply an item for the IT Department relating to firewalls and protection for city computers, city programs and such authorizing the IT Department to go ahead and purchase those services for the protection of firewalls and computers necessary within city government,” Edwards stated.
Edwards also added that the annexation of Cambridge Village into the City Limits of Sedalia was completed on January 1st and went smoothly.
The Council will meet this evening at 6:00 at the Municipal Building in Sedalia.
