Sedalia Crossing to Close

The railroad crossing at at Ohio Avenue in Sedalia will close for several days starting Monday.  The Union Pacific Railroad will be repairing the railroad grade crossing.  The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office reports the railroad and public safety officials have planned alternate routes to insure emergency vehicles are able to answer calls for service north of the railroad crossing with no time delay.  The public is encouraged to be aware the Ohio Avenue Railroad Crossing will be closed 24 hours a day and plan appropriately.

During the week of October 15th, 2012 the Union Pacific Railroad will be repairing the railroad grade crossing north of Main St. on Ohio Ave in Sedalia.

The Union Pacific Railroad and local public safety officials have developed a plan to insure that emergency vehicles are able to answer calls for service in the City of Sedalia and Pettis County north of the railroad crossing. During this grade crossing repair the Sedalia Police Department, the Sedalia Fire Department, and other emergency services will travel on alternate routes that will not affect response time.

The crossing is expected to be closed for multiple days, including overnight hours. Motorists should plan for alternate routes to reach their destinations.
