Sedalia duo charged over child’s injury from 2017

COOPER COUNTY, MO – A child abuse case out of Pettis County that originated from events December 2017, has been transferred to another county.

During a review Thursday in Cooper County, abuse, and endangerment cases against Stephen Brandkamp, 28, and Brittany Brandkamp, 28, of Sedalia will go to trials tentatively set for February 2019.

According to a probable cause statement, a six-year-old in the care of both defendants had suffered injuries consistent with being struck in the abdomen. Significant bruising was discovered by doctors. Prosecutors also believe the child was found alone in the care of Stephen Brandkamp, after a previous court decision disallowing that.

Stephen Brandkamp is charged with assault and abuse, Brittany Brandkamp faces a charge of child endangerment.
