A Sedalia resident that allegedly killed a man at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital last week was arrested by the Sedalia Police Department just days prior.  Pettis County Prosecutor Jeff Mittelhauser says he was unable to file charges on Rudy Perez, Jr., 33,  before the 24-hour-hold expired because he needed additional information from the arresting officer.

Perez was accused of punching a neighbor in the face.  He told police he did so because he saw the man on his porch the night before.

Days after being release, Perez assaulted his father on the side of a road and was placed on a 96-hour involuntary hold at the Columbia facility.  While there Perez allegedly attacked and killed a 78-year-old man from Warsaw.  He has been charged with first degree murder in the incident.
