Senator Blunt Discusses River Levels

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt addressed the low levels of the Mississipi and Missouri Rivers during a press conference Thursday.  Click to hear part of the press conference with Senator Blunt:

Blunt said he is calling on the Army Corps of Engineers to release water from further upstream in order to replenish the lower Missouri and, consequently, the Mississippi.  He met with them last week.

Blunt and several other legislators have also written a letter to the president asking him to consider declaring an economic disaster on the Mississippi.  They have also called on the Corps to speed up their efforts to remove navigation obstacles on the Mississippi south of St. Louis.
