One of the biggest issues being discussed in Jefferson City right now is how to deal with students who live in an unaccredited school district. Click to hear KMZU’s Mike Stone speak with Senator David Pearce:
Pearce serves on the Senate Education Committee. “According to current state statute, then they have the ability to go to a surrounding district or an adjoining county to go to school. That’s happened twice, with two districts in the St. Louis area,” said Pearce. “So we heard a bill, rather we heard five bills on that topic in our Senate Education Committee on Wednesday. And we’ll hear more in the future. It’s a tough, tough issue. So that’s probably, when it comes to education, our biggest issue this session.”
The Senate Education Committee next meets Wednesday afternoon at 3:00.
