A northwest Missouri man accused of murdering a young Independence woman more than 20 years ago entered an Alford plea. Guy Shannon Junior, 45, of Odessa, made the admission in court on Friday. He was charged in July 2012 with murder and forcible rape. Investigators believed he sexually assaulted and strangled Marcia Davis, 20, in March of 1989. In court documents, authorities said they were able to tie Shannon to the murder after his DNA matched evidence found on the body. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
