The Sheltered Workshop in Moberly is now under the umbrella of the nonprofit ICAN Foundation. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to Interim Director Pollyann Nicholson:
According to officials, this recent change means added growth and opportunity for the facility. “We are all now one agency and for us that’s just a very wonderful thing,” said Nicholson,” We can help to expand, with equipment, and a number of other things.”
Progress will soon be visible at the workshop. “We are preparing to install a hammer mill which was received through a grant,” From my understanding, it will do a lot of pellets and fire logs. It has a lot of capabilities of compressing the wood and even more so than we’re able to do with the mulcher.”
The workshop has also been able to bring back previously laid-off-workers and now provide jobs for 43 certified employees, as well as a staff of 25.
