Slater man involved in May 2017 standoff with police due in court Monday

SALINE COUNTY, Mo. — A man who allegedly barricaded himself inside a residence in what turned into a standoff with police in Slater last year is scheduled to be in court Monday morning.

According to court records, 31-year-old Charles Townsend, Jr. is charged with two counts of felony assault or attempted assault in the first degree, causing serious physical injury to a special victim, a first degree felony for assault and three felony counts of armed criminal action among other criminal charges.

Police were called to a residence in Salter May 28 to reports of a domestic disturbance. The standoff reportedly lasted hours and left an officer injured.

Townsend will appear to enter a plea or have a trial set at 9:00 Monday morning in a Saline County courtroom.
