Sleepy Driver Crashes in Liberty

An Excelsior Springs resident was one of two people involved in a crash early Friday morning in Clay County.  The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Highway 33 at 112th Street in Liberty.  The Highway Patrol reports Glen Elkins, 27, of Holt, fell asleep, traveled off the road, and came to rest against a telephone pole.  He and his passenger, William John, 21, were transported to Liberty Hospital with minor injuries.
