Smith-Cotton student killed in crash Wednesday morning

UPDATE:  4:30 p.m.A crash report by Missouri Highway Patrol says Jordan Sparks, 15, was a passenger in a vehicle, driven by Jack Tague, 16. The report states the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree during an attempt to pass another vehicle just before 8 a.m. Sparks was listed in the report as not having utilized a safety device.  She was pronounced dead at Bothwell Regional Hospital later Wednesday morning.

SEDALIA, Mo. — A student at Smith-Cotton High School lost her life in a motor vehicle accident Wednesday.

15-year-old Jordan Sparks was a freshman at Smith-Cotton High School, according to the news release from the Sedalia School District.

Officials with the Sedalia School District have extended condolences to friends and family of young Jordan and say they will provide grief counseling to anyone who is affected by the tragic loss.
