The Lawson United Methodist Church will hold the 19th Annual Smorgasbord and Auction Saturday evening at the North Country Community Center, 18765 Highway 69, Lawson, Mo.

Gail Ryther, wife of Auctioneer Gary Ryther and church member, says the menu is classic Thanksgiving fare and the auction features many diverse items.

“We have Kansas City Chiefs tickets this year. We have certificates for services by different members. We have antiques, collectibles, we have toys, tools,” Ryther said.

“We have a variety of items to be auctioned, and during the oral auction we give out door prizes, and we have the kids draw the names, so it’s a lot of fun. It’s our major fund raiser for our church,” she adds.

Mrs. Ryther is also excited to offer a great social event with a delicious meal.

“It is open to the public and it’s a great opportunity for fellowship and a good time. It’s not just members of churchs,” Ryther said.

“We have a wonderful home prepared dinner, a smorgasbord of traditional Thanksgiving type food with good turkey and real mashed potatoes and gravy, and all the fixings. And homemade pies and cakes, and so forth,” she explained.

The smorgasbord and silent auction will run from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the live auction starting at 7:30.

The price is $10 for adults, and $5 for children ages 4 to 10.
