Smith-Cotton High School day ends quietly after social media threats

UPDATE:  6 p.m. 10/19/17 – Smith Cotton School district got through a safe Thursday, one day after alleged social media threats were made against the school. District 200 administrators say the investigation is ongoing by local law enforcement, and FBI officials. therefore, no further information is available at this time. Security at the school has been increased on campus. Administrators are expecting normal routines to be followed Friday.  

SEDALIA, Mo. — Administrators of the Sedalia 200 are taking precautions due to a threat made against Smith-Cotton High School.

The alleged threat. A screenshot has been posted on social media, though this has not been confirmed by law enforcement.

According to a news release, local law enforcement are conducting an investigation on the threat, though at this time, nothing has been found to validate the content of the threatening post. Families with students who attend Smith-Cotton High School are encouraged to follow their normal routines tomorrow morning.

Any information about the threat should be brought to the Sedalia Police Department.
