The election for Bates City Mayor was delayed again this week.  Candidate Shawn Fox filed an injunction against Lafayette County Clerk Linda Niendick on Monday, preventing Tuesday’s vote from taking place.  Judge Dennis Rolf declared the special election will not be held “until such time as the Proclamation and Notice are issued in accordance with state and local laws.”

The special election was scheduled for May 14th after a recount found the votes to be tied 55-55 between Diana Rickey and Shawn Fox. Missouri Officials are entitled to ask for a recount when the margin is less than one percent.  The original machine count came out in favor of Fox.

The Bates City Board of Aldermen has scheduled the new election for June 4th.
