Sporting clay enthusiasts can take aim for a good cause at the Bass Pro Shops and Mid-America Mortgage First Annual Shoot for Disaster to benefit the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter.
“This will be a really fun event,” said Nancy Sell, the chapter’s major gift officer who has been working with Mid-America Mortgage owner Ralph Gates and Bass Pro Shops to organize the shoot. “It’s not just for experienced shooters. There are two competitive classes, registered and hunter, but we’ve got some side game options for anyone who wants to come out and just shoot for fun.”
The Shoot for Disaster, a 100-bird sporting clay shoot, will be held Saturday, March 15 at Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports, 1420 County Road 276 near Columbia. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The event starts at 9 a.m. Last squad out at 3 p.m.
The cost is $75 per person. Proceeds support the chapter’s disaster services.
“You don’t have to be a shooter to participate,” Sell said. “We’ll have door prizes and a silent auction that will give everyone the opportunity to go home with something.”
Trophies will be awarded in the registered and hunter classes.
