Lincoln’s baseball team fell to Tipton 3-25 in 5 innings Thursday  night.  The Cardinals are hoping to improve their 2 and 2 record when they play Green Ridge Friday at 5 p.m.

CHICAGO (AP) — Jeremy Guthrie struck out nine batters yesterday to lead the Kansas City Royals past the Chicago White Sox 3-1. Chris Getz, Alex Gordon and Jarrod Dyson all drove in runs for the Royals. White Sox starter Gavin Floyd took the loss after giving up four hits and two runs in six innings.

The Royals will play an Interleague series this weekend in Philadelphia.  They open a three-game set against the Phillies tonight at Citizens Bank Park.  Wade Davis is slated to make his Royals debut, while Kyle Kendrick is the scheduled starter for Philadelphia.  The Royals will play their home opener on Monday against the Minnesota Twins.

(San Francisco, CA)  –  After a travel day on Thursday, the Cardinals resume their season-opening road trip in San Francisco.  It’s the home opener for the Giants at AT&T Park, with first pitch set for 3:35 p.m.  Jake Westbrook is scheduled to start for St. Louis, while San Francisco counters with Barry Zito.  The Cards lost two-of-three in Arizona to start the season.

(Kansas City, MO)  –  The Chiefs’ 2013 preseason schedule is out.  The Chiefs will open the August exhibition slate on the road against the New Orleans Saints.  They host the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in their second game before heading to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers.  The Chiefs finish up the preseason at home against the Green Bay Packers.

(St. Louis, MO)  –  The Rams 2013 preseason schedule has been released.  The Rams will open the August exhibition slate on the road against the Cleveland Browns.  They then come home to host the Green Bay Packers before playing a road game against the Denver Broncos on CBS.  The Rams wrap up the preseason at home against the Baltimore Ravens.

ATLANTA (AP) — After a season in which it reached the Final Four, Wichita State will participate in the CBE Classic in November at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Texas, BYU and DePaul will join the Shockers in the tournament championship rounds. Wichita State plays Louisville tomorrow night in its first Final Four since 1965.
