>>Cards Clash With Padres

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The St. Louis Cardinals resume their season tonight at home against the San Diego Padres.  Jake Westbrook gets the nod for St. Louis against Jason Marquis [[ mar-kee ]] from the Padres.  St. Louis is 57-and-36 and in first place in the NL Central.

>>Royals Host Tigers Tonight

(Kansas City, MO)  —  The All-Star break is over and the Royals get back to work tonight.  They open a three-game series against the AL Central-leading Tigers at Kauffman Stadium.  Ervin Santana will start for KC, while Detroit counters with Anibal Sanchez.  Kansas City is riding a five-game losing streak and is 43-and-49 on the season, eight games behind Detroit in the division.

>>Chiefs Gear Up For Training Camp

(St. Joseph, MO)  —  The Chiefs are gearing up for the start of training camp next week.  Rookies report Monday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.  Veterans are required to arrive Thursday the 26th, with the first practice the next day.  Led by new head coach Andy Reid and QB Alex Smith, the Chiefs kick off the preseason Friday, August 9th at New Orleans.

>>Chiefs Fans Seek World Record

(Kansas City, MO)  —  Chiefs fans get the go ahead to try for the world’s record as the loudest sports facility in the world.  The Guinness Book of World Records approved the application submitted by the fan group Terrorhead Returns to try for the record this fall.  Fans will have to beat 131-point-7 decibels to earn the title.  The current record was set at a soccer match in Turkey.

>>SEC Announces Conference Teams, Predicted Standings

(Hoover, AL)  —  The Southeastern Conference announced its all-conference teams and predicted order of finish for the Eastern and Western Division.  Defensive back E.J. Gaines was the lone member of Missouri named to a team.  He is a part of the third-team.  The Tigers were selected to end in sixth in the East.

>>Mizzou, K-State, KU Afterthoughts In Preseason Football Media Polls

(Undated)  —  Missouri, Kansas State and Kansas are all being picked as afterthoughts by the media in their respective conferences this football season.  The Tigers have been picked to finish sixth in the SEC preseason media poll.  Mizzou is ranked ahead of only Kentucky in the SEC East.  In the Big 12, the preseason poll has Kansas State finishing sixth and Kansas dead last.
