In spite of the wintry weather, the Kansas City T-Bones will hold their annual open tryouts Friday as scheduled.  Interested players should report to Community America Ballpark by 8 a.m. for registration and orientation by manager Kenny Hook.  At that time, players will be directed to an indoor facility in the Kansas City area for the workout.  The tryout marks the start of spring training for the T-Bones.  The club begins practice on Saturday, with its first exhibition game on Monday, May 6, at 7:05 p.m. at Community America Ballpark against the Lee’s Summit Monarchs.

Jake Westbrook earned his 100th career win Thursday night as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5. Westbrook allowed one run and struck out four over six innings. The Cardinals scored all six of their runs in the third inning.

The Kansas City Royals’ game against the Tampa Bay Rays was postponed Thursday after heavy rain turned to snow during the game. The game was delayed more than two hours in the fourth inning before the umpires called it. No makeup date has been set.
