WASHINGTON (AP) — Jayson Werth’s solo homer in the bottom of the ninth gave the Washington Nationals a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 4 of their NL division series. Werth drove Lance Lynn’s 13th pitch into the left-field stands to force a decisive Game 5 tonight. The winner will advance to face San Francisco in the NL championship series.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel has been ruled out of Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay with a concussion. Coach Romeo Crennel says doctors haven’t clear Cassel to return. Brady Quinn will start in place of Cassel.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Just like rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein, St. Louis Rams punter Johnny Hekker is fast making a name for himself. The undrafted rookie set a franchise record with a 56.9-yard average in last week’s win over Arizona. Zuerlein is having a good season as well, going 13 for 13 on field goals.
