High School Basketball

Over the weekend at the Husker Classic at Lafayette County High School the St. Pius Girls defeated Odessa 41-37 in the 3rd place contest Saturday. In the boys third place game Richmond beat Odessa 55-43. For the girls championship Higginsville fell to Brookfield 45-54 and the Higginsville Huskers defeated Oak Grove 58-44.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Sam Bradford threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Gibson with 48 seconds left to give the St. Louis Rams a 15-12 victory over the Buffalo Bills yesterday. The Rams won their third straight game for the first time since closing the 2006 season with three victories. Linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar intercepted a pass by Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on the final drive.




CLEVELAND (AP) — Travis Benjamin’s 93-yard punt return touchdown helped the Cleveland Browns beat the Kansas City Chiefs 30-7 yesterday. Running back Trent Richardson added a pair of 1-yard TD runs for the Browns, who have won three straight for the first time since 2009. Jamaal Charles ran for 165 yards and scored the Chiefs only touchdown.




KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have acquired pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis from the Tampa Bay Rays for outfielder Wil Myers and some minor leaguers. The blockbuster deal was announced last night. The Rays also get right-hander Jake Odorizzi, lefty Mike Montgomery and third baseman Patrick Leonard in the deal. Shields comes to the Royals with a career 3.89 ERA and in the 2012 season placed 10th in the American League with 15 wins and 3rd in the AL with 223 strikeouts.
