COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Meighan Simmons scored 20 points and Mercedes Russell grabbed 11 rebounds to help No. 10 Tennessee edge Missouri 56-50 on Sunday. Bri Kulas finished with 22 points and Morgan Eye added 15 for the Tigers (16-11, 5-9), who only trailed by one point at halftime despite shooting 2 of 14 from 3-point range before the break.


NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Sooners will be on the road to take on No. 8 Kansas in Big 12 basketball. OU has won three of its last four to improve to 20-7 on the season and 9-5 in the Big 12 after an 86-73 win over Kansas State on Saturday. Kansas is 21-6 overall and 12-2 in the conference following an 85-54 win over Texas on Saturday. Tip-off for Monday’s game is set for 8:05 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan.



(Surprise, AZ)  —  The Royals continue full squad workouts today at spring training in Arizona.  The team will open Cactus League play against their Surprise Complex neighbor Texas Rangers on Thursday.  The Royals begin the regular season March 31st in Detroit against the AL Central champion Tigers.


(Jupiter, FL)  —  The St. Louis Cardinals have added pitchers Kurt Heyer and Boone Whiting to the spring training roster.  Jaime [[ HY-may ]] Garcia is shut down and will have an MRI on his shoulder while Jose Almarante is stuck in the Caribbean due to visa issues.  Heyer was 9-and-7 with a 3.41 ERA in 23 games last season in the lower minor leagues while Whiting was 8-and-7 with a 3.83 in 27 starts with Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis.
