Softball/Baseball

The Linn County softball team beat Brunswick Monday 9 to 7.  The Linn County baseball team was also victorious against Brunswick 17 to 2.

The Leeton Lady Bulldogs lost to the Otterville Eagles Monday 9 to 8.  Leeton’s pitcher Katie Fleming struck out six, walked one, and allowed only four runs in the game.  Leading hitters included Jordan Page and Beth Hamline.  Leeton will take on Holden Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Volleyball

Knob Noster fell to Holden Monday 25-7 and 25-11.  The JV and C Team also suffered losses.  25-19 and 25-16 the final tally in the JV game.  The C Team finished the evening 25-6 and 25-7.

Football

The Lincoln JV football team beat Adrian Monday 32 to 12.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Rodger Saffold will be out at least a month with a right knee injury. Coach Jeff Fisher says Saffold has a third-degree MCL sprain and other damage to the knee. Saffold was hurt in Sunday’s game against Washington after being hospitalized with a neck strain after the season opener.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles sat out much of Sunday’s loss to Buffalo after dinging up the same knee that needed reconstructive surgery last season. Charles carried only six times for three yards against the Bills. Coach Romeo Crennel says he expects Charles to be ready for this weekend’s game at New Orleans.
