KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have lost a game to the Toronto Blue Jays, but the bigger loss may be to Toronto. The Blue Jays’ Jose Reyes was carted off with an ankle injury after driving in a pair of runs. Toronto won the game 8-4. Toronto’s J.A. Happ survived a rocky first inning in which he gave up three runs to get the win. Luis Mendoza had a tough outing on the mound for KC.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Kyle Lohse had a solid return to St. Louis. The Milwaukee Brewer hitters did not. Lohse’s first start as a visitor in Busch Stadium since 2007 resulted in a 2-0 loss. Lohse was good, but Cardinals rookie Shelby Miller was better. He allowed just one hit in seven innings — a single by Norichika Aoki to open the game.
Missouri State’s baseball team won out over Southern Illinois at yesterday (Fri) afternoon’s opening game of their Missouri Valley Conference Series. MSU scored six times in the final three innings to claim a 7-3 victory. The teams will play again this (Sat) afternoon at 2:00.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The flurry of offseason moves continues for the Kansas City Chiefs. Former Tennessee Titans linebacker Zac Diles has signed with the team. He played in college for Kansas State and was drafted in the seventh round by the Houston Texans.
The Missouri Valley College cheer squad has been crowned national champions. The team brought home the NAIA Small Co-Ed Division yesterday (Fri). The is the second National championship for the Vikings.
