BOSTON (AP) — Tony Abreu singled home the go-ahead run in the 12th inning, and the Kansas City Royals completed their comeback from a six-run deficit by beating the Boston Red Sox 10-9 Saturday night. The Royals made it 9-all with six runs in the seventh — all of them with two outs, including a game-tying, two-run triple by Mike Moustakas at Fenway Park. The Royals will go for another win in Beantown today with lefty Wil Smith on the mound. Smith comes into today’s game with a 4-5 record on 10 starts with a 5.40 ERA. He’ll face Red Sox lefty Felix Doubront in a southpaw showdown. Doubront has a 10-6 record on 22 starts with an ERA of 4.70; first pitch at 12:35 p.m. Central Time.

(Cincinnati, OH)  –  Brandon Phillips was 3-for-5 with a solo home run as the Reds ripped the Cardinals, 8-2.  Jay Bruce added a two-run homer for Cincinnati, which snapped a two-game skid.  Mike Leake gave up two runs in six-and-two-thirds innings for the win.  He was also 2-for-3 with a run at the dish.  Matt Carpenter drove in a run for St. Louis, which saw a four-game win streak come to an end.  Jaime Garcia allowed four runs in six innings for the loss.

Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny says they didn’t do the little things to win this game.
