The LaCoMo East Little League Intermediate Division 12 & 13-year old Boys are in Kalamazoo, Michigan for the Regional Tournament.  The Tournament will run Saturday through next Friday.  The LaCoMo East Boys will play their first game Saturday at 11 a.m. against the Minnesota “State” Champion.

Some area Little League Girls will be in action this weekend at the Missouri State Girls Little League Tournament at the Concordia Sports Complex.  The 9 and 10-year old “Minor” Girls play Webb City Friday night at 6 p.m.  They also play Saturday at 7 p.m. against Perryville and Sunday night against Columbia National.  The Championship game will be Monday at 7 p.m.  Also at the Concordia Sports Complex this weekend is the “Minor” Baseball 9 and 10-year old Boys playing for the State Championship.  Harrison County, Webb City, Campbell and Daniel Boone National competing in that tournament.  The Girls play on the Green Field and the Boys play on the Yellow Field at the Concordia Sports Complex.

(Kansas City, MO)  —  The Royals resume regular season play tomorrow night.  KC welcomes AL Central-leading Detroit to Kauffman Stadium for the first of a three-game series.  Ervin Santana will start for the Royals, while the Tigers counter with Anibal Sanchez.  KC is riding a five-game losing streak and is 43-and-49 on the season, eight games behind Detroit in the division.

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The St. Louis Cardinals resume their season tomorrow night at home against the San Diego Padres.  Jake Westbrook gets the nod for St. Louis against Jason Marquis [[ mar-kee ]] from the Padres.  St. Louis is 57-and-36 and in first place in the NL Central.

NEW YORK (AP) — Television ratings for Major League Baseball’s All-Star game were up slightly from last year’s record low. Played at the Mets’ Citi Field, the game’s viewership got a boost from its trip to the big market of New York. The 11.3 rating there was up 16 percent from a year ago, when Kansas City hosted.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk and TCU defensive end Devonte Fields are the Big 12 preseason players of the year. The league released its preseason All-Big 12 teams yesterday as selected by media members who cover the conference. West Virginia’s Charles Sims is the preseason newcomer of the year.
