Lincoln lost to Smithton 17-5 in 5 innings on Wednesday.

Boonville topped Pilot Grove 9-5.

Due to the weather forecast, adjustments have been made to the opening round of the MIAA Baseball and Softball tournament.  All teams have pushed their first games back to Friday, May 3.

Elliot Johnson homered against his former team Wednesday night in the Kansas City Royals’ 9-8 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Lorenzo Cain and Jeff Francoeur added two RBIs apiece for the Royals, who were down 5-0 in the third inning. Rays reliever Jake McGee took the loss after giving up five runs in less than an inning.

Lance Lynn won his 10th straight decision Wednesday in the St. Louis Cardinals’ 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Lynn allowed one run and struck out five to improve to 5-0 on the season. Carlos Beltran homered and Matt Carpenter collected three hits for the Cardinals.
