>>Molina, Carpenter Win Silver Slugger Awards

(Undated)  –  Major League Baseball has announced the winners of The Silver Slugger Awards.  The honor is given annually to the top offensive performer at each position in both the American and National League.  St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and second baseman Matt Carpenter are both first-time winners of the award.

>>Mizzou, KU, K-State Football In Action Saturday

(Undated)  –  Missouri, Kansas and Kansas State are all back on the football field on Saturday.   The seventh-ranked Tigers travel to 2-and-6 Kentucky with kickoff at 11 a.m.  The 2-and-6 Jayhawks are at 14th-ranked Oklahoma State at 7 p.m.  The 4-and-4 Wildcats play at 25th-ranked Texas Tech with kickoff at 11 a.m.

>>Fuller To Coach Mizzou During Haith Suspension

(Columbia, MO)  –  The Missouri basketball team is set to open the season tomorrow, but won’t have head coach Frank Haith.  He’ll be serving a five-game suspension related to sanctions levied against Miami while he was with the Hurricanes.  Assistant Tim Fuller will coach the team in Haith’s absence.  The Tigers host Southeastern Louisiana tomorrow at Mizzou Arena.

>>KU, K-State Hoops At Home Tomorrow

(Undated)  –  Kansas and Kansas State both open the men’s basketball regular season tomorrow night on their home floors.  The sixth-ranked Jayhawks and freshman phenom Andrew Wiggins will host Louisiana Monroe at Allen Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.  The Wildcats tip things off against Northern Colorado at Bramlage Coliseum.  That game begins at 8 p.m.
