>>Royals Shut Out, Eliminated By M’s

(Seattle, WA)  —  The Royals are out of playoff contention following a 6-0 loss to the Mariners in Seattle.  Hisashi Iwakuma struck out nine while holding KC to four hits in eighth innings for his 14th win.  Mike Zunino homered twice for the M’s.  Ervin Santana allowed four runs in six-plus innings to fall to 9-and-10 with the loss.  Alex Gordon had two hits for the Royals.

>>Royals Close Out Season Against White Sox

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Royals open their final series of the season tonight in Chicago against the White Sox.  Jeremy Guthrie seeks his 15th win for KC as he starts opposite Chicago’s Andre Rienzo, who is 2-and-2 with a 5.04 ERA.  The Royals and Sox will play four games to finish out the year.  KC is 83-and-75 with four games to play.  The Sox are 62-and-96.

>>Royals GM Moore Wants Yost Back

(Seattle, WA)  —  If it’s up to general manager Dayton Moore, Ned Yost will be back managing the Royals next years.  Moore said before last night’s game in Seattle that he definitely wants Yost back, but the two parties have agreed not to talk contract until after the season.  Yost is in the final year of his deal.  Moore is under contract as GM through next year.

>>Cardinals Sweep Nationals

(St. Louis, MO)  —  Yadier Molina knocked in two runs to help the Cardinals sweep the Nationals with a 4-2 win in the finale of the three-game set from Busch Stadium.  Matt Adams hit a solo home run for St. Louis, which holds a half-game lead on Atlanta for home-field advantage in the National League.  Shelby Miller picked up his 15th win with six-plus innings of one-run ball.  Trevor Rosenthal locked up his third save.

>>Cards Host Cubs

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The St. Louis Cardinals close out the regular season at home starting tomorrow.  The Cards welcome in the Chicago Cubs to Busch Stadium for three games.  Lance Lynn toes the rubber in Game One against Travis Wood.  Joe Kelly and Adam Wainwright close out the series against Edwin Jackson and Jeff Samardzija respectively.

>>Chiefs Continue To Prep For Giants

(Kansas City, MO)  —  The Chiefs continue to prepare for Sunday’s home game against the New York Giants.  Kansas City is off to a 3-and-0 start with wins over the Jaguars, Cowboys and Eagles.  The Chiefs already have more wins than they did last year when they went just 2-and-14.  The Giants are still seeking their first win of the season at 0-and-3.

>>Rams Face 49ers In NFC West Tussle

(St. Louis, MO)  —  A pair of teams looking to get back on track meet up tonight in an NFC West showdown as the San Francisco 49ers face the St. Louis Rams at the Edward Jones Dome.  The Rams are also riding a two-game losing streak after getting crushed 31-7 at Dallas on Sunday.  The 49ers are coming off a 27-7 home loss to the Colts on Sunday that dropped them to 1-and-2.  Both meetings last season went to overtime, with the Rams winning one and the other ending in a tie.

>>Mizzou Sports Network Unveils Six-Game Schedule

(Colombia, MO)  —  The Mizzou Sports Network schedule is out.  It will show six Missouri men’s basketball games, beginning with an October 25th home exhibition against Oklahoma City.  MSN will also show the regular season opener November 8th at home against Southeastern Louisiana as well as a neutral-site game against Hawaii at the Sprint Center November 16th.
