(Kansas City, MO) — Kendrys Morales hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to power the Mariners to a 6-4 win over the Royals at “The K.” Billy Butler had an RBI single and Jarrod Dyson singled home two for KC, which erased an early 4-0 deficit despite managing just four hits for the game. Aaron Crow took the loss in relief of starter Wade Davis. The Royals and Mariners close out their four-game series this afternoon at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals host the AL Central-leading Tigers for three games starting tomorrow.

(Cincinnati, OH) — Matt Adams hit a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the 16th inning to lift the Cardinals past the Reds 5-4 at Great American Ball Park. Adams also hit a solo shot in the top of the 14th, but the Reds answered in the bottom of the frame. Adams came in as a replacement for Cards first baseman Allen Craig, who left in the fourth inning with a sprained left foot. Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday also plated a run each for the Redbirds, who now trail the Pirates by just one game in the NL Central. The Cardinals will try to split their four-game series with the Reds tonight at Great American Ball Park.

The Cubs defeated the Marlins 9-7.
The Giants spanked the Padres 13-5 in the finale of a three-game set.
The Nationals nipped the Phillies 3-2 in the rubber match of a three-game series.

The Rockies jumped out to a 4-0 lead and fought off the Dodgers for a 7-5 victory in the finale of a three-game set.
The Astros prevailed over the Twins 6-5.
The Athletics cruised past the Rangers 11-4 in the rubber match of a three-game series in Oakland.
The Indians answered the Orioles rally with a two-run bottom of the fifth inning and held on for a 6-4 victory against the O’s in the finale of a three-game set.
The Yankees held on to beat the White Sox 6-5 to sweep the three-game series.
The Red Sox trounced the Tigers 20-4 in the rubber match of a three-game series.
The Rays edged the Angels 3-1 in Anaheim.

(Kansas City, MO) — The practice days are winding down for the Chiefs ahead of Sunday’s season opener in Jacksonville. KC will kick off the 2013 campaign on the road against the Jaguars and former Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Both the Chiefs and Jags went just 2-and-14 last season. Alex Smith will make his Chiefs debut at quarterback.
