The Royals and Cardinals both had Monday off. The Oakland A’s roll into town tonight at 7:10 at Kaufman Stadium for the first in a three game series with Kansas City. The Cardinals open up a three game series with the Diamondbacks tonight at 7:15 at Busch Stadium.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Rams are dropping plans to play home games in London in 2013 and 2014, citing a need to focus on bringing their home stadium to “first-tier” status.

The Rams will go ahead with plans to use a home game to play the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 28. But the team said Monday that it has withdrawn its commitment for home games in London the following two seasons.

The team and the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Bureau have been negotiating on ways to improve the Edward Jones Dome. The bureau leases the dome to the Rams.

The agreement allows the Rams to break the contract and potentially leave after the 2014 season if the dome doesn’t meet certain standards.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana State Police say an investigation has found no evidence that the Saints or general manager Mickey Loomis rigged Superdome wiring so opposing coaches’ radio communications could be intercepted. Col. Mike Edmonson says the probe turned up no evidence that state laws have been violated. Loomis and the Saints have emphatically denied the allegations.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — For Chad Johnson, a weekend confrontation with his wife has led to repercussions beyond a misdemeanor charge and NFL unemployment.

VH1 pulled the series “Ev and Ocho” from its schedule, citing “the seriousness of the allegations” against Johnson. The network said Monday it had no plans to air the show.

The Dolphins terminated Johnson’s contract Sunday night, about 24 hours after he was arrested in a domestic battery case involving his wife, Evelyn Lozada, who is on the reality TV show “Basketball Wives.”

Coach Joe Philbin says the decision to release the six-time Pro Bowl receiver wasn’t based on any single incident and wasn’t made to send a message. Instead, Philbin decided Johnson and the Dolphins were simply a bad fit.
