Allison Spunaugle led Lincoln with seven points.  She had help from Meghan Cooke, who scored 6, and Morgan Renno, who had 3 points on the night.

Salisbury Girls topped Westran 51 to 23.

Wentworth Military Academy and College has announced that Women’s Basketball Coach John Jordan has been named Assistant Athletic Director.  Jordan brings more than twenty years of experience in athletic administration to the post.  Jordan has athletic administrative experience at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels.  Wentworth’s Athletic Director Tom Hughes said, “Adding the Assistant Athletic Director responsibilities to John Jordan was an easy decision for us… John will be an immediate asset for us in his added role.”

For the second time this season Missouri Southern’s Marquis Addison has been named the MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week.  Addison helped the Lions to a 2-0 week, defeating Southwest Baptist 100-91 and MIAA leader Central Missouri 93-81 on Saturday. The 6-4 junior guard is a native of Olathe, Kan. where he competed at Olathe South High School.

For the third time this season Central Missouri’s Keuna Flax has been named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for week number 13.  Flax averaged 25 points per game last week, leading the 10th ranked Jennies to road wins over Central Oklahoma and Missouri Southern. The 5-11 junior forward is a native of Haltom City, Texas and played at Haltom High School and Trinity Valley Community College prior to coming to UCM.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Ben McLemore scored 30 points last night as No. 14 Kansas topped No. 10 Kansas State 83-62 to snap a three-game losing streak. Jeff Withey added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Jayhawks. Rodney McGruder had 20 points and Angel Rodriguez added 17 for the Wildcats.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals are hoping a revamped pitching rotation will lead to wins in 2013. The Royals opened spring training yesterday with pitchers and catchers reporting. The Royals new starting pitchers include James Shields, Wade Davis, Ervin Santana and Jeremy Guthrie.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Cardinals righty Chris Carpenter hasn’t ruled out pitching again. Last week, the Cardinals all but ruled the 37-year-old Carpenter out for the year after problems in his right arm. Carpenter knew something was wrong a few weeks ago when his hand turned red and purple.
