Marshall, Mo. (Jan. 14, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Benedictine College at the Burns Athletic Complex Monday evening for a Heart of America Athletic Conference double-header. The Lady Vikings played the No. 21 Lady Ravens tough, but fell short in a 68-57 defeat. The MVC men’s team secured the first conference home win of the season with a 70-59 victory over the Ravens.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs have introduced Green Bay Packers executive John Dorsey as their new general manager. Dorsey takes over for Scott Pioli, who was fired after four seasons. Dorsey played for the Packers and later was a scout and director of scouting while new Chiefs coach Andy Reid was an assistant in Green Bay.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — An autopsy shows that Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher was legally drunk when he shot his girlfriend last month and then killed himself. The Jackson County Medical Examiner also reports 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins was shot nine times. Police say Belcher killed Perkins at the couple’s home, then drove to the team’s practice site and committed suicide.

Olympics
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — St. Louis is among six cities bidding to host the 2016 U.S. Olympic swimming trials. Other contenders announced yesterday include San Antonio, Indianapolis and Omaha. The winning city will be announced in April.
