ST. LOUIS (AP) — Infielder Ronny Cedeno has agreed to a one-year, $1.15 million contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. Cedeno has a .247 career batting average after stints with the Chicago Cubs, Seattle, Pittsburgh and the New York Mets. The Cardinals also hired Bengie Molina as assistant hitting coach. He is the older brother of Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Big 12 athletic directors spent several hours yesterday talking about maintaining their 10-team configuration or eventually making additions to the conference. Commissioner Bob Bowlsby says the current setup is beneficial for each school, but he wanted to discuss “what-if” scenarios. The Ads plan to discuss football scheduling today.
