(Bronx, NY) – Billy Butler homered for one of the Royals’ seven extra-base hits in a 5-1 win over the Yankees in the Bronx. David Lough, Johnny Giavotella and Alex Gordon had RBI doubles and Alcides Escobar tripled in a run for KC. Jeremy Guthrie survived an hour-long rain delay in the fourth to pitch into the seventh inning for the win. Greg Holland notched his 21st save.

(Bronx, NY) – The Royals will try to make it two straight at Yankee Stadium when they take on the Bronx Bombers in the second of a four-game series. James Shields will start for the Royals. He’s 3-and-6 with a 3.23 ERA in 18 starts this season. CC Sabathia takes the hill for New York. He’s 9-and-6 with a 4.06 ERA. After New York, KC plays three games at Cleveland.

(Bronx, NY) – The Royals are making a change in their starting rotation. Veteran left-hander Bruce Chen is being moved from the bullpen back into the starting rotation, where he spent each of the last three seasons. He’ll take the place of right-hander Luis Mendoza, who is being switched to long relief. Chen is 3-and-0 with a 2.41 ERA over 19 appearances this season.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cards got a day off Monday before starting a two-game series tonight at Busch Stadium against the Houston Astros. Recently named National League All-Star Adam Wainwright gets the start in the series opener. Wainwright is 11-and-5 with a 2.36 ERA this season and the Cardinals have won four of their last five games.

(St. Louis, MO) – Cardinals All-Star catcher Yadier Molina missed the weekend’s games with Miami due to right knee inflammation. He’s expected to return to action tonight after an MRI showed no further damage. Molina told the “St. Louis Post Dispatch” that he also hopes to play in next week’s All-Star Game in New York.
