It’s an All-MIAA championship game in the NCAA Division II Central Regional in Mankato, MN…as Central Missouri takes on Northwest Missouri tonight.  On the line will be a berth in the Elite Eight which begins on March 26 in Evansville, Ind.
Missouri is in action tonight as they open NIT play at home against Davidson. Tip-off from Mizzou Arena is set for 8 p.m. The second-seeded Tigers are 22-and-11 while the seventh-seeded Wildcats are 20-and-12. The winner moves on to face either Southern Miss or Toledo.
Yordano Ventura tossed six innings of four-hit ball with six strikeouts as the Royals blanked the Rangers 6-0 last night in Surprise. Nori Aoki went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Eric Hosmer was also 2-for-4 in the win. Mike Moustakas was 3-for-3 and knocked in a run. The Royals are off today.  Shelby Miller was rocked for three runs over three-and-two-thirds innings as the Cardinals lost 10-5 to the Red Sox yesterday.
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) – Grady Sizemore had three hits to help the Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-5 yesterday. Sizemore was signed in January to a $750,000, one-year contract. Sizemore has been hampered by injuries over the last five years and missed the past two seasons following operations on his right knee and back.


LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) – Bill Self was born in Oklahoma, played at Oklahoma State and cut his teeth in coaching at Kansas. Now he’s leading the Jayhawks in pursuit of another national championship. All three of the Sunflower State’s programs are back in the NCAA tournament this year. All are ninth seeds or better, led by No. 1 seed Wichita State.


KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – Sporting Kansas City has loaned midfielder Mikey Lopez to USL PRO champion Orlando City FC and goalkeeper Jon Kempin and midfielder Christian Duke to OKC Energy FC. Lopez was picked in the first round of the 2013 draft by MLS Cup champion Sporting KC. He made his debut last season in the U.S. Open Cup.
