SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) – Derek Lowe pitched three scoreless innings last night to lead the Texas Rangers to an 8-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish was scratched from the start because of a mild neck strain. Royals starter Ervin Santana allowed six runs on 10 hits in four innings.

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Matt Harvey struck out six batters yesterday in the New York Mets’ 3-2 spring training win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Lucas Duda hit a two-run homer in the fourth for the Mets. Cardinals starter Jake Westbrook gave up two runs and three hits in six innings.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missouri coach Frank Haith has integrated a group of transfers into the Tigers system. Leading rebounder Alex Oriakhi, guard Keion Bell and sophomore Jabari Brown all transferred from different schools to help the Tigers reach the NCAA tournament this year. Ninth-seeded Mizzou plays No. 8 seed Colorado State on Thursday.

UNDATED (AP) — Gonzaga (gahn-ZA’-guh) winds up on top in the final Associated Press top-25 men’s basketball poll. The Bulldogs hauled in 45 of 65 first place votes, while second-ranked Louisville claimed the other 20. Rounding out the top five are Kansas, Indiana and Miami.

PHOENIX (AP) — The NFL will not be adding teams to the playoffs this season, but still is discussing an expanded postseason. Commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL’) says that the league’s competition committee has looked into adding teams to the playoffs, and the topic will be discussed at this week’s owners meetings. However, he says any adds won’t happen this year.
