High School Softball

In the Class 1 District 7 Championship, number 1 seed New Franklin fell to number 2 seed Harrisburg 7-1.

Knob Noster was in Sedalia Monday and fell in two matches 20-25, 16-25.

MLB

(St. Louis, MO)  —  Carlos Beltran homered twice and plated three as the Cardinals clobbered the Nationals, 12-4, in Game Two of their NLDS.  Allen Craig and Daniel Descalso also went deep to help the Cards even the best-of-five set at a game apiece.  Lance Lynn tossed three innings in relief of Jaime Garcia to earn the win.  Ryan Zimmerman and Andy LaRoche hit solo homers for the Nats, who will host Game Three on Wednesday.  Jordan Zimmermann was tagged for five runs in only three innings to take the loss.

NFL

(Kansas City, MO)  —  Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel says quarterback Matt Cassel will likely miss Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay.  Cassel suffered a concussion in Sunday’s 9-6 home loss to the Ravens after taking a vicious hit from Baltimore’s Haloti Ngata in the fourth quarter.  Crennel says Brady Quinn will get the reps in practice this week and will likely start against the Bucs.

(Kansas City, MO)  —  Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel is chiming in on Eric Winston’s harsh post-game comments about 70-thousand fans cheering Matt Cassel’s concussion on Sunday.  Crennel says he thinks Winston overestimated the number of fans that actually cheered the QB getting hurt.
