>>Royals Come Up Short Against Tribe

(Cleveland, OH) — The Royals staged a late comeback, only to fall shot in a 4-3 loss to the Indians in Cleveland. Alex Gordon hit a two-run homer in the eighth to bring KC within one, but popped out with the bases loaded in the ninth to end the game. Ubaldo Jimenez struck out 10 over seven innings for the win. Ervin Santana fell to 8-and-9 with the loss for KC. The Royals will try to square their series with the Indians tonight in Cleveland. Jeremy Guthrie gets the starting assignment for KC in the second game of the three-game series. He’s 13-and-10 with a 4.19 ERA. Zach McAllister starts for the Tribe. The Royals are seven games back in the AL Central and four back in the AL Wild Card race.

>>Cardinals Host Brewers Tonight

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals open up a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight at Busch Stadium. Shelby Miller gets the ball for St. Louis in the opener. Milwaukee will counter with Wily Peralta. The Cards hold a one-game lead on the Pirates and are two up on the Reds for the NL Central lead. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15.

>>Chiefs Look Ahead To Dallas

(Kansas City, MO) — The Chiefs return to practice tomorrow as they begin preparations for the second game of the season. KC plays its home opener Sunday afternoon against Dallas. The Chiefs rolled to a 28-2 win at Jacksonville this past Sunday, with Alex Smith throwing two touchdown passes. The Cowboys are also 1-and-0 after beating the Giants, 36-31.

>>Chiefs Hope Charles Okay For Cowboys

(Kansas City, MO) — The Chiefs are hoping running back Jamaal Charles will be good to go for Sunday’s home opener against Dallas. He suffered a quadriceps contusion in the second half of Sunday’s season-opening win at Jacksonville. Charles finished with 16 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown. He also had three catches for 23 yards.

>>Rams Shift Focus To Falcons

(Earth City, MO) — Rams players will have their routine day off today before jumping back on the practice field tomorrow. Yesterday, the team reviewed film of Sunday’s season-opening win over the Arizona Cardinals. It was the 150th victory in head coach Jeff Fisher’s career. St. Louis hits the road to play the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome on Sunday.

(Undated) — Missouri gets a breather this week with no game on the schedule. The Tigers are 2-and-0 after wins against Toledo and Murray State. Mizzou is back in action September 21st at Indiana.

(Lawrence, KS) — The Kansas Jayhawks are turning to social media to unveil a new-look uniform. The KU athletic department’s official Instagram account posted a video of freshman star Andrew Wiggins getting his picture snapped at a photo shoot for “GQ” magazine. The biggest difference is a solid blue block on the shoulders of the jersey.
