Linn County’s baseball team blanked Southwest Ludlow 20 to 0 on Tuesday.

Lincoln lost to Smithton 12- 8.  Devyn Strathman took the loss for the Cardinals.  Branigan Roark, Heath Renno and Zach Wolf each had one hit for Lincoln.  Trenton White pitched five and two-thirds innings for Smithton.  Preston McMullen got the win in relief.  Anthony Koeller went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for Smithton.  Lincoln drops to 3-4 and 2-2 in the conference.

Leeton beat Lakeland 6-1 in softball on Tuesday night.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Lance Lynn struck out 10 batters last night as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-1. Matt Adams hit a two-run homer and Allen Craig and Carlos Beltran also drove in runs for St. Louis. Red starter Bronson Arroyo retired the first 15 batters he faced before the Cardinals broke through in the sixth.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Alcides Escobar had three hits and an RBI last night to help the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 7-4. Jeremy Guthrie allowed four runs in six-plus innings to win his career-best seventh straight decision, dating to last season. Joe Mauer, Josh Willingham and Eduardo Escobar all homered for Minnesota.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas guard Ben McLemore is entering the NBA draft after his freshman season. McLemore broke Danny Manning’s freshman scoring record by averaging nearly 16 points for the Jayhawks. McLemore is expected to be a lottery pick in June’s draft.
