On Monday, the Knob Noster girls team beat Richmond in overtime – 35-34. Bri Gibbs led Knob Noster with 8 points. Miya O’Dell tacked on 12 for Richmond.
Reid Summers contributed 18 points as the Richmond Spartans defeated the Knob Noster Panthers 56-40 in conference play on Tuesday night. David Barton led Knob Noster with 23 points. The Panthers play next Monday night in Higginsville. The Spartans return to the hardwood Thursday to take on Holden.
The Carrollton boys fell at home to Trenton 59-43 on Tuesday night.

DIX HILLS, N.Y. (AP) — Hundreds of people attended a wake in New York for Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher. Authorities say the 25-year-old Long Island native shot and killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, before killing himself on December 1st. Teammates and coaches attended a service for Belcher last week in Kansas City.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have signed veteran pitchers George Sherrill and Dan Wheeler and outfielder Willy Taveras to minor league contracts. Both Sherrill and Wheeler will try to win spots in the Royals’ bullpen during spring training. Taveras is a career .274 hitter in seven seasons with four teams.
The NFL will reportedly make the use of thigh and knee pads mandatory for the 2013 season in an announcement on Wednesday. FoxSports.com reports team owners will be updated on the matter when they meet in Dallas. The NFL Players Association made a successful push before the 1994 season to have the protective padding become optional for players to wear. In May, owners approved a rule change that would make the pads mandatory. However, the NFLPA argued that such a motion would be a collectivelly-bargained issue. A 2010 study showed that only about 30-percent of NFL players wear thigh and knee pads.
