In girls action, Lathrop topped Lawson 60 – 52, Salisbury defeated Slater 61-27, and Glasgow beat Meadville 49-28. Haley Fitzpatrick led Meadville with 10. Nikki Fuemmeler had 19 points on the night for Glasgow. She had help from Abby Thompson, who scored 15.
On the boys side Moberly got a 59 – 37 win over Boonville. Pilot Grove defeated Jamestown 64-48. Freshman Mason Schlotzhauer tacked on 32 points for Pilot Grove. Andy Thompson led with 14 for Jamestown. St. Paul topped Smithton 69-29. Tyler Gerke had 11 points for Smithton. Dane Apsher contributed 7 for the Tigers. Michael Nebel led St. Paul with 14. He was followed by Sam Schmidt, who had 11.
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Two straight road losses helped knock Missouri out of the latest Associated Press rankings. The Tigers are 14-0 at Mizzou Arena this season, but they’re 0-5 on the road and will be the visitors four of the next five games. The Tigers play at Mississippi State tonight. That game will be broadcast on the SEC Network. On Saturday, Missouri travels to Fayetteville, Arkansas. The highly anticipated game will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Kansas City has acquired utility player Elliott Johnson from the Tampa Bay Rays as the player to be named in the December trade that sent James Shields to the Royals. Johnson batted .242 with six home runs and 33 RBIs last year with the Rays. To make room on the roster, the Royals transferred pitcher Felipe Paulino to the 60-day disabled list.
