KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Clark Hunt fired coach Romeo Crennel on Monday as part of a shake-up of the entire structure of a franchise that his father, the late Lamar Hunt, founded 53 years ago. The younger Hunt said he plans to hire the next coach who will report to him, rather than through the general manager — a change in the way the team has operated since its inception.

(Columbia, MO)  —  Missouri plays its final game Saturday before diving into the SEC schedule.  The Tigers host Bucknell at Mizzou Arena for an afternoon tip-off.  Mizzou is 10-and-2 and ranked 12th in the nation after being upset by UCLA last week.  Bucknell is 12-and-2 and plays at Cornell tonight.

NEW YORK (AP) — The proposals are flying back and forth between the NHL and the players’ association. Whether significant progress is being made in the process still isn’t clear. The league made a counteroffer yesterday in response to one it received from the players Monday, and now the NHL is waiting for another answer. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said Monday the NHL has told the union a deal needs to be in place by January 11th so a 48-game season can begin eight days later.
