Max Scherzer won his ninth straight decision last night in the Detroit Tigers’ 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Scherzer became the first Tigers starter to begin the season 9-0 since 1938. David Lough homered and Alcides Escobar hit an RBI single for the Royals.

Michael Wacha earned his first major league win last night in the St. Louis Cardinals’ 9-2 victory over the New York Mets. Wacha allowed two runs in six innings and also drove in a run with a groundout in the fifth inning. Allen Craig hit a three-run homer for the Cardinals and David Freese extended his hitting streak to 20 games.
