Ryan Doumit homered and drove in two runs Tuesday night to lead the Minnesota Twins past the Kansas City Royals 3-0. Starter Samuel Deduno earned the victory and Glen Perkins pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save. The Royals have lost a franchise-record 11 home games in a row.

Paul Goldschmidt’s RBI single in the 14th inning lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday night. A.J. Pollack added a three-run homer and Willie Bloomquist had four hits for the Diamondbacks. Allen Craig and Shane Robinson both went deep for St. Louis.

Wichita State baseball coach Gene Stephenson has been fired after 36 years. Athletics director Eric Sexton announced the decision yesterday, saying it was the “proper time to move” forward. Stephenson leaves with a career record of 1,837-675-3.
