Junior Devyn Strathman allowed two hits and one run in three innings in Lincoln’s 12-5 win over Hermitage last night. Lincoln scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second, two each the third and the fourth. After a scoreless 5th Lincoln added a single run in the 6th frame and two more in the seventh. Freshman Corbin Mertgen pitched the final four innings for Lincoln and allowed one earned run. Brock Young reached base five times in the game. He scored four runs and stole four bases. Devyn Strathman scored twice and had a single and a double. Lincoln takes on Leeton Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Yorvit Torre-alba and D.J. LeMahieu each had RBI singles in the fifth inning of the Colorado Rockies’ 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals yesterday. Rockies starter Juan Nicasio had four strikeouts in the contest. Mike Moustakas homered for the Royals.
JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Shelby Miller retired the last 11 batters he faced in four scoreless innings yesterday to help the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Miami Marlins 5-4. Matt Carpenter hit a two-run double and Joe Kelly had an RBI single for the Cardinals. Marlins starter Jacob Turner allowed four earned runs and seven hits in five innings.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Missouri State has fired women’s basketball coach Nyla Milleson. The firing came after a 14-17 season that ended with a 15-point loss to Drake in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. Milleson will be paid a buyout of $140,000.
